Bourgueil
A STOPOVER FILLED WITH BEAUTIFUL DISCOVERIES IN THE VAL DE LOIRE REGION
In the heart of the Centre Val de Loire region, at the gateway to the Touraine and Anjou regions, Bourgueil offers various possibilities for discovery. You will appreciate the mildness of its climate, the quality of its wines, which has largely contributed to its reputation, and the wealth of its cultural heritage. Among the must-sees are the Benedictine abbey founded in 990, its market and of course its vineyards. Over the centuries, the reputation of Bourgueil wines has continued to grow and today, wine lovers and producers still promote them throughout the year: the August 15th wine fair, the Commanderie de la Dive Bouteille ceremonies, the Cave du Pays de Bourgueil museum and the Maison des Vins invite visitors to discover the world of wine.
On Tuesday mornings, you can go to the Bourgueil market, one of the most important in Indre-et-Loire. In the summer, two night-time food markets offer to the public a wide range of regional products.
Walkers will appreciate the Tanneries garden and, with the children, the Capitaine leisure park, which offers numerous water sports activities in summer.
The PYLO'GIS will be the ideal starting point for your discovery of the Châteaux of the Loire, the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park, picturesque villages and other historical monuments.
Some ideas within 20 km: the Château d'Ussé which inspired Charles Perrault for his tale "Sleeping Beauty"; Chinon; Saumur, the pearl of Anjou; the Abbey of Fontevraud, the largest monastic city in Europe; the village of Montsoreau ... a little further on, the romantic Château d'Azay-le-Rideau; the Renaissance gardens of the Jardins du Château de Villandry, and, for the entire family, the Doué-la-Fontaine Biopark...
